Granted that I - one who considers himself a long distance runner - might have a different reaction to this film than the average person, I thought it was absolutely amazing. It chronicles six runners, their intensity and telling pace ranging from a 12:30 per mile pace to 4:40 per mile, one of them being a consistent male second placer at Chicago and another the female first place. Interviewing the likes of Hal Higdon (training guru), Bill Rodgers (Boston legend), Paula Radcliffe (Olympic medalist), not to mention race founders, historians, authors, etc., gives this film authenticity unrivaled in the running world. Technically the film was astounding, compiling archival footage with aerial photography, with well shot documentary style cinematography. I was much more moved and inspired by this film than I thought, and would love for anyone considering running a marathon to watch this movie.

The villain army general guy was a bit much for me.
