RECENT ADDITIONS:

NE LE DIS À PERSONNE (TELL NO ONE), 2006

The film's translated logline very handedly explains the plot - '8 years ago, Alex's wife was murdered. Today... She e-mailed him.' - but fails to show the depth of emotion and beauty found in this film. Whether to classify this as a love story, action film, or murder mystery, I'm not completely sure, but I do know that every now and then, especially after films like this, I wish I had an in with foreign filmmaking. The lyrical beauty of the camera was superb, the acting absolutely solid on all accounts, and the plot - though somewhat convoluted at times - was entirely captivating. The chase scenes and stunts felt extremely true-to-life, demanding on several occasions a quick rewind, enhancing the quality, suspense, and overall amazement I have for this film. The concluding reveal and subsequent resolution seemed a bit lackluster in depth, but it completes the movie and provides the viewer with a beautiful ending to a roller coaster of action and emotion. The film contains a rather odd soundtrack, sticking out like a sore thumb at times, working perfectly at others. A diverse and captivating film, Tell No One is one of the best films I've seen recently, and will actively recommend it to others.

Glad we don't have to disagree on this one. Honestly, this film made me want to learn French and fall in love - which should speak to its power.

I mean, honestly. French?

Underlining denotes a film seen in theaters, an asterisk (*) denotes an AFI film, an exclamation point (!) denotes repeated viewings of a film.
