RECENT ADDITIONS:

THE FOURTH KIND, 2009

This film was a genuinely intriguing story, damaged only by the way in which it was presented. The actors performed well, the plot and interest was definitely there, it was just severely distracting at points to be barraged with multiple shots at a time, found footage and reenactments oddly cut together, and random shots intruding at the most inopportune times. This film was sooo close, but the small things really kept it from achieving its full potential. Real-to-life alien and ghost films remain almost the only films that can scare me, and despite its flaws, this was no exception. It contains material that brings up huge questions and things that remain completely unexplained, coupled with an eery creepiness not often found in such a docile setting as Nome, Alaska. Again, I wish this film had been treated differently in pre-production, during filming, and in post-production, but for a thought provoking wide-eyed (no pun intended) scare, this film performed well.

Underlining denotes a film seen in theaters, an asterisk (*) denotes an AFI film, an exclamation point (!) denotes repeated viewings of a film.
