RECENT ADDITIONS:

HEAT, 1995

With a cast of Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Jon Voight, Natalie Portman, Ashley Judd, Tom Sizemore, and Val Kilmer, it'd be hard to get this film wrong. With Michael Mann, however, and his box office hits (Last of the Mohicans) to box office failures (Public Enemies), you never know. The plot of this film was airtight and the acting absolutely perfect. It was character driven, had surprising depth, and the cinematography never faltered, even for a second. For a good guy vs. bad guy heist film, this really is the best I've ever seen.

Sweet, I'll have to check it out, even though I'm not a fan of several of those actors. I'm watching Seven Samurai right now. I watch movies in chunks these days, so I've only watched 45 minutes, but for a Japanese movie made in 1954 it's pretty good so far. I've heard about it so much... You should watch it and review it. In Japanese it's shichinin no samurai.

Watched this last night. You're right, it was an extremely well-made movie, very gripping. However, it's not one I would want to watch again. Watching how crappy people are to each other and themselves is not really my idea of entertainment. A lot of people were callously murdered in this movie, and when it is so convincingly portrayed it is hard to watch.

And I don't care what anyone says, I think Natalie Portman is a C grade actor.

But thanks for the review, I enjoyed it!
